How To Design A Rom Com Poster

A good poster can whet your appetite for a movie; a great poster is a work of art in its own right. Some of the most memorable will cause movie spods everywhere to shed a little tear of recognition for their favourites – Vertigo, Blade Runner, Psycho – all superb.

But while great posters can be found for action, adventure, sci-fi and horror movies with regularity, one genre that perpetually throws up difficulties is the romantic comedy – a genre whose poster design often shows about as much flair and originality as the films they’re promoting.

Just follow these three easy steps to create the most generic rom com poster imaginable:

1. Start with a white background.
2. Get your two stars to stand or lie next to each other. Extra points if they’re doing something “kooky” or pulling silly faces.
3. Use black and red text for the title.

Congratulations, you’ve just made your graphic designer obsolete.

Good God, there are loads! I take your point. And thanks for the education – never knew Ellen deGeneres acted.
