Robert Duvall Will Drive Jayne Mansfield’s Car
Mansfield was a blonde bombshell (a contemporary of Marilyn Monroe for whom she’s often mistaken) who was killed in a car crash at the age of 34 in 1967 but Duvall in an interview with Entertainment Weekly has stated that the film won’t be directly about her:
“It’s about a guy in between World War One and World War Two who raises a family after his wife left him for an Englishman and moved to England,” he said, “When the wife dies, she asks to be brought back to Alabama to be buried, and at that point the character hasn’t seen her in 20 or 30 years. The two families — her original family she abandoned and her English family — meet and then things get really interesting.”
Duvall’s confident that he’s got a keeper on his hands though – “It’s another Southern tale. It puts Tennessee Williams in the back seat — it’s that brilliant.”
One to look out for then. When, we’re not sure as there’s no shooting times announced yet – as always – watch this space.
