Thor_Hemsworth300Well this should be a decent indication of how these two summer superhero blockbusters are going to end.. (as if we there was too much doubt). Marvel Studios president of production Kevin Feige has confirmed that sequels to Thor and Captain America will soon be in the works.

Speaking to D23 Magazine, Feige confirmed that Captain America would be surviving World War II (phew!) and enjoying a modern adventure like his fellow Avenger Thor.

“Thor will go off into a new adventure, and Captain America will continue to explore the modern world in another film of his own,” he explained.

Thor opens in cinemas across the country at the end of April, while Captain America screens in July, but both characters will be returning for sequels as well as appearing alongside Robert Downey Jr’s Iron Man, Mark Ruffalo’s Hulk and Jeremy Renner’s Hawkeye for Marvel ensemble film The Avengers next year.

Yet Feige believes that several heroes in the Marvel stable have the potential to go it alone. “We hope that holds true for the characters appearing in that film – Black Widow, Hawkeye and the spy organisation, S.H.I.E.L.D. – all of whom are more than worthy and capable of carrying their own films,” he told the magazine.

Thor doesn’t seem to have made that good a start in Australia where it has been released.

Probably far too early to say but I cannot imagine that Marvel executives are pleased,
