mangold210James Mangold (is it me, or does his name sound like a euphemism?) has fended off stiff competition to land the directing job for The Wolverine. Darren Aronofsky was initially down to direct, but since he left a huge shortlist of directors popped up .

Mangold most recently directed Cruise/Diaz “comedy” Knight And Day which performed only modestly at the box office but he’s had more successful fare in the past with the likes of 3:10 To Yuma and Identity. Nothing’s completely confirmed but negotiations are under-way as we speak.

Christopher McQuarrie is behind the script which will see Wolverine in Japan and getting into all sorts of scrapes when he falls for the wrong woman. Let’s hope it’s better than The Tourist. We’re looking at an Autumn shoot which has been understandably pushed back due to the earthquake.
