fett210Joe Johnston, the director of the forthcoming Captain America has expressed a desire to work on a movie about Boba Fett, everyone’s favourite Han Solo capturing mercenary.

Speaking to Screenrant, Johnston was asked if George Lucas has seen Captain America yet (before you go thinking that was out the blue – he got his first start as a storyboard artist for him and remained with him for a long time afterwards). His reply, “You know, if he wants to see it, I would show it to him. I’m trying to get George to make a feature based on Boba Fett.” When questioned further, he simply said, “I would like to direct it; it’d be a lot of fun.”

Do we need another entry into the Star Wars universe? Haven’t we given George Lucas enough of our money? Well, if there’s any character that deserves a spin-off movie (and we’re not saying he does mind you), it’s Fett, one of the most mysterious characters in the series, who has developed a cult following despite having minimal screentime.

But you know, everyone loves a badass so go figure.

And Johnston contributed to Fett’s original design, so if anyone should take up the challenge it’s him (Screenrant didn’t ask him what’s with the little periscope thingy that Fett has on his helmet, but oh well). It may just remain a pipe dream though – would Lucas really entrust the direction of new Star Wars film to his former Padawan?

StumbleUpon It!
