It’s a cast which is overflowing with talent but there’s no harm in adding more is there? Next to join Gangster Squad is Mireille Enos who will be joining Emma Stone as so far the only other female character.

She’s down for the role of Connie O’Mara who’s married to Josh Brolin’s son, John. Despite being pregnant she takaes an active involvement and even helps to pick members for the titular group.

If you’re unfamiliar with Enos, then let us fill you in. She nabbed an Emmy nomination for her role as homicide detective Sarah Linden in US drama The Killing and beat out Kate Winslet and Amy Adams for the role in Gangster Squad.

She’ll join a cast which includes (deep breath) Ryan Gosling, Sean Penn, Josh Brolin, Michael Pena, Giovanni Ribisi and Michael Pena. Robert Patrick joined last week standing in for Bryan Cranston who had to drop out due to scheduling conflicts.

The film is based on articles by Paul Lieberman, will tell the story of a group formed in the 1940s to stop the rising tide of organised crime flooding into LA from the East Coast.

Filming starts in September – plenty of time to sprinkle a few more stars on the top of what looks like a delicious movie cake.
