Time moves differently in Hollywood. Prisoners, which was a Black List script written Aaron Guzikowski was apparently being fast-tracked into development. That was two years ago. Since then, it’s been shuffled around potential directors Bryan Singer and Antoine Fuqua and possible stars Leonardo DiCaprio, Mark Wahlberg, Christian Bale and Hugh Jackman.

Now the casting roulette wheel has fallen on Michael Fassbender, who has just been offered the lead role.

The plot sees a father going all Taken and taking the law into his own hands by kidnapping the man he believes is repsonsible for his daughter’s disappearance.

As for director, well it looks like Incendies director Dennis Villeneuve will be the man in the chair. But there’s currently no word on who will play opposite Fassbender.

Andrew Kosove of Alcon Entertainment who are producing the film said last year that Prisoners is “the most interesting, moraly complex thriller we’ve seen in the last twelve years”. More announcements to come then…
