Jackie Earle Haley Joins Lincoln
Jackie Earle Haley is the latest addition to the cast of Stephen Spielberg’s Lincoln. Haley was last seen in the remake of A Nightmare On Elm Street as Freddy Kreuger and is currently working on Tim Burton’s Dark Shadows.
He’ll play Alexader Stephens in the historical epic, the vice president of the Confederate States during the Civil War who stood in strong opposition to Abraham Lincoln’s plans to abolish slavery.
His most famous speech attested that, “Our new Government is founded upon exactly the opposite ideas; its foundations are laid, its cornerstone rests, upon the great truth that the negro is not equal to the white man; that slavery, subordination to the superior race, is his natural and normal condition.”
He’s the latest addition to a cast that includes Daniel Day-Lewis, Sally Field, Tommy Lee Jones, Joseph Gordon-Levitt, David Strathairn, Walton Goggins, James Spader, Lee Pace and John Hawkes.
The script is by John Logan and Tony Kushner and shoting begins next month for a late 2012 release.
