The sequel to the massively successful X-Men: First Class has found a writer in the shape of Simon Kinberg.

Not a household name perhaps but he’s been involved in some big projects of mixed quality. He was one of the co-writers of the X3: The Last Stand (meh), Mr. & Mrs Smith (meh), Jumper (urgh), Sherlock Holmes (yay) and the upcoming This Means War and Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter.

There’s no confirmation on returning cast or director but it’s safe bet that Matthew Vaughn will settle back into the director’s chair and the main cast will be the same – James McAvoy, Michael Fassbender, Rose Byrne, January Jones and Jennifer Lawrence.

As for possible plot, Matthew Vaughn was batting an idea around for it to be about Magneto being repsonsible for the Kennedy assassination and series producer Bryan Singer mentioned that he wanted more about the civil rights movement and Vietnam.

Updates as we get them.
