Paramount has finally tied JJ Abrams to a chair and beaten his legs until he committed to a schedule for the highly anticipated Star Trek sequel. The production company nabbed the coveted pre-Memorial Day Weekend date of May 17th, 2013 for the film’s release and Abrams will now finally get focused on it.

The director will finish off the script he’s been working on with co-writers Damon Lindelof (who also worked with Abrams on Lost), Alex Kurtzman and Roberto Orci, and then begin filming in his first ever attempt at 3D.

While the film is still untitled and it has yet to be confirmed whether or not Benicio Del Toro will be playing the villain, we know the impressive ensemble from the first film will return. The Starship Enterprise crew consists of Chris Pine, Zachary Quinto, Zoe Saldana, Simon Pegg, John Cho and Anton Yelchin and the actors are ready whenever Abrams is.
