Tony Peckham, the screenwriter behind Sherlock Holmes, The Book of Eli and Invictus has been approached to write the Twilight Zone reboot. Cloverfield and Let Me In director Matt Reeves will be behind the cameras this time round.

Peckham is currently writing Yacutan for Warner Bros. which will star Robert Downey Jr, but according to Variety is in the final stages of coming aboard for the Zone. Leonardo DiCaprio is also on the slate to produce.

The Twilight Zone has gone through numerous incarnations and reboots over the years. It originally ran from 1959-1964 with a total of 156 episodes before being revived in 1985 for a four year run. Another revival was attempted in 2002 but was cancelled after just one season.

There was a movie made in 1983 which was a remake of four classic episodes from the original series produced by John Landis and Steven Spielberg with individual segments directed by Landis, Spielberg, Joe Dante and George Miller. It featured the acting talents of Dan Akroyd, Albert Brooks and John Lithgow to name just a few.

With such a pretigious cast and crew for the last one, it looks like Reeves will have his work cut out for him.
