Look how bonkers they are - it wasn't even raining!

It is easy enough to look on the bright side of life when it is Friday, but here’s a snippet of news which will make being positive just that little bit easier.

The Monty Python gang are soon to be reuniting for a further screen outing together…using only their voices. Terry Gilliam, John Cleese and Michael Palin will be lending their unmistakeable vocal talents to a bunch of extra-terrestrial jokers.

New animated sci-fi farce, Absolutely Anything, will be directed by Terry Jones and will follow the (mis)adventures of the alien gang as they give humans the power to do “absolutely anything”…just for jokes. Sure, they know said human will mess everything up but that is the point. A whole heap of madness and a dog named Dennis (with the voice of Robin Williams later) and you have a worthy MP reunion.

Eric Idle has been approached, but has yet to sign on the dotted. “Terry and Gavin have crafted a classic farce – something I feel I know a little bit about after all the Pink Panther pictures we did with Blake Edwards at United Artists,” producer Mike Medavoy says.

“In fact, the movie even has a pompous Frenchman reminiscent of Inspector Clouseau – but there the similarity ends. Like all projects originated by any of the Monty Python guys, Absolutely Anything delightfully defies a logline.”

But MP fans should not get too excited. Producers are keen to stress that this is not a Monty Python film.

“It’s not a Monty Python picture,” stresses Jones, “but it certainly has that sensibility”.
