For Gina Carano It’s In The Blood
She proved that there’s certainly space on the big screen for a woman who can actually kick some arse in Haywire and now Gina Carano’s found her follow up in the shape of John Stockwell’s action thriller In The Blood.
From a script by Bennett Yellin (awesome name) and Robert Johnston have written the script which sees a husband and wife on holiday in the Caribbean. When he disappears, his widow vows to find his kidnappers and bring them some pain pie. Presumably, that’ll mean Gina will be shattering an assortment of bones on the way to her targets – sort of like female-fronted version of Taken. Fair play.
“This role will showcase not only Gina’s fighting skills, but also her acting abilities as her character struggles to reign in her violent past” said Stockwell. Hmm, and probably an excuse to shoot in a lovely warm location (in this case Puerto Rico) for six months.
Well, it’s nice to see Gina picking up some more work. She was an utterly charming interview and certainly has the screen presence for more kick-assery. Not sure about “acting abilities” as Haywire wasn’t exactly taxing in that regard but she’s at least as good as some other action girls I could mention, so let’s wait and see.
Shooting begins later this year.
