Princess Diana Was Set To Star In The Bodyguard 2 Says Costner

Princess Diana was set to star alongside Kevin Costner in a sequel to The Bodyguard, reports The Sun.

In a story which sounds like bollocks of the highest order he apparently said, “Diana and I had been talking about doing Bodyguard 2. I told her I would take care of her just the same way that I took care of Whitney.”

The Bodyguard  depicted a relationship between a singer (Houston) and the bodyguard assigned to protect her. It was a hit in 1992 but is probably more famous for spawning the hit song by Houston I Will Always Love You.

Apparently a follow up was planned which would see Costner protecting a Princess in the spotlight and that he received a draft for the script for the film the day Diana was killed in a car crash in 1997.

Costner said: “She wanted me to write it for her. I said ‘I’ll tailor it for you if you’re interested.’ She goes, ’I am interested.’”

It could be true I suppose… but I think there’s more chance that pigs might fly out of a frozen hell…  The real challenge here is to determine which is more likely, that Costner’s talking rubbish or that The Sun have made it up.

  1. Hi there!
To my knowledge truth. Diana was to play a princess who called upon his services to protect her from assassination attempts threatened against her. Diana always a shrewd character and someone who did her homework would have appreciated the irony of it all!
