A survey by Fandango, a movie ticketing and information site, has named Avengers Assemble (simply The Avengers in the US) as the most anticipated movie of the summer.

31% of men and 16% of women have the Marvel adventure at the top of their lists making it the most popular film for men. Kristen Stewart/Charlize Theron fairy tale Snow White And The Huntsman topped the female list – 22% to 16%.

Fandango Editor-in Chief Chuck Walton rightly points out that Chris Hemsworth is the common factor – “The Australian heartthrob, who stars as Thor in The Avengers, and as the male lead in Snow White And The Huntsman, sits atop both the men’s and women’s ‘Most Anticipated’ lists.”

It looks to be a good year for Hemsworth, with Cabin In The Woods getting rave reviews and The Avengers set to kick ass and take names when it hits screens on April 20th. Jury’s still out on Hunstman – we’ll know closer to the date of June 1st when it opens in the UK.

The Dark Knight Rises and Men In Black 3 also featured on the list – perhaps reflecting the relative radio silence on The Dark Knight front of late – have people forgotten about it?
